1. Check with the courthouse to see if you need to make an appointment. Some counties require you to schedule an appointment for a marriage license, while others accept walk-ins.
   
2. Some counties let you apply for the license online, but you still have to go to the courthouse to pick it up. 
3. You and your partner must BOTH be present when going to get your marriage license.
   
4. Both of you must bring a photo ID, such as a driver's license, passport, or ID card.
   
5. The fee for a marriage license is $86.
   
1. You can get a $25 discount on the marriage license fee if you complete our course and bring the certificate to the courthouse.
6. You can get married anywhere in Florida, regardless of which county you received your Florida marriage license in.

60-day deadline

Florida marriage licenses are valid 60 days from the effective date. The marriage ceremony must be performed between the effective date and the expiration date on the marriage license.

Required Documents

You and your partner will need the following documents and items when you go to get your marriage license.

1. Federal or State Government Photo ID

2. Valid Passport
   
3. State-Issued ID
   
4. U.S. Military ID
   
5. Alien Registration Card
2. Social Security Number
   
1. You won't need your Social Security card, just the number. 
   
2. Non-U.S. citizens may provide one of the ID's stated above, as they do not have a Social Security number.
3. Form of Payment
   
1. This is for paying the fee for the license
4. Dissolution of Marriage (if you have been married before)
   
1. You must have this, along with the exact date of the last divorce, death, or annulment.
5. Premarital Course Certificate (If you intend to get the 3-day waiting period waived)
   
1. Once you complete the course requirements, you can download the certificate from your dashboard.
2. You will need the physical certificate in order to use it at the courthouse. 
   

If you are getting your marriage license in Dixie, Hardee, Lee, or Taylor County, we have to mail the certificate to you. They will only accept the original certificate we provide, not the one printed from your account. To avoid waiting for your certificate in the mail, you can go to a neighboring county that accepts the printed certificate. You are able to get married anywhere in Florida regardless of what county your received your Florida Marriage License.
